Equally comfortable in the roles of organ technician, organist, and church musician, Sol Rizzato (They/He) currently serves as the Director of Worship and the Arts at Washington Avenue Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Elyria, Ohio. They graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Music with a Master of Music (Organ Performance) in May 2023, where they studied with Todd Wilson. Prior to their time in Ohio, Sol received a Bachelor of Music (2020, Organ Performance) and Bachelor of Musical Arts (2019, Viola Performance) from the University of Oklahoma. Due to their background as a violist, they have a particular love for orchestral transcriptions, symphonic organ design and voicing techniques, as well as the theatre organ. Sol has recorded multiple film scores for movie producers in California, New Jersey, Michigan, and Ohio, and can frequently be found accompanying shows at the Lorain Palace Theatre (Lorain, Ohio) on the 3/10 Wurlitzer organ. In March of 2021, Sol was named as a recipient of the Diapason’s “20 under 30,” a national award “recognizing young talents in the fields of organ and harpsichord performance, organ and harpsichord building, carillon, and church music.” In March of 2022, Sol was named as the graduate student winner of the Immanuel Lutheran Church (Evanston, Illinois) Organ Scholar Competition.

Sol’s full-time work is as a lead service technician and voicer at the Muller Pipe Organ Company in Croton, Ohio. Currently in their 9th year of work as an organ technician, Sol has serviced over 600 instruments across 18 states and 9 countries. Sol has a particular passion for education and outreach and continues to lead workshops on pipe organ maintenance at the state and national levels, and while in the Muller shop, they work with training new technicians in tuning and service techniques. Sol holds full, Regular membership in the American Institute of Organbuilders and the Colleague certification with the American Guild of Organists.

Sol continues to remain active as a professional violist and enjoys spending time with friends, cooking, weightlifting, and the sport of fencing. He also has a particular passion for education and outreach and hopes to be in a teaching role in some capacity.
